Wanderers 5–2 Brixham AFC Development

The Green Army kicked off their 2nd pre-season match ahead of the 26/27 campaign, hosting Brixham Athletic Development team in a Saturday 3pm kick-off.

Both teams played their part for the start of the match, opportunities opening on both ends. Sam Pyne broke the deadlock early in the first half — after a good save by the Brixham goalkeeper, Sam Pyne managed to slot it in. 1–0. The Green Army looked well alive after the first goal, but still had it all to play for.

Shortly after, Brixham managed to pull one back with plenty of time to go in the first half. 1–1.

Thankfully, after a foul which went our way, our new arrival Thomas Ross executed a perfect free-kick flying into the back of the net. 2–1.

With minutes to go in the first half, Brixham managed to pull themselves back into the game with a brace. 2–2.

After a very even first half, the referee blew the whistle for half time. 2–2.

The referee blew for the second half after clearly a very effective speech to the players. Watcombe Wanderers looked alive and hungry for a winner. It was only a matter of time until we scored again.

And for a second time, Thomas Ross slots it in to put the Green Army in a 3–2 lead. And it only went up from there.

To put a bigger pillow in the lead, our own Sean Finch does it — after some strike, he puts us ahead of the Blue Army. 4–2.

With the game coming to an end, it was best to put the game to a close with a seven-goal thriller — Ollie West finalising the last goal to put the Greens up 5–2.
